Meet Our Team

Jean Vavrek

Jean leads Tamarack's practice in eastern Canada. He has deep roots in Canadian mining and wears his passion on his sleeves when talking about the future of the industry for mining companies, suppliers, communities.

Jean brings decades of experience in the mining industry across a variety of areas; engineering, service, market development and customer care experience related to various areas of supply of equipment, systems. His expertise spans most sectors of manufacturing and industrial applications, with focus on mining, processing, metallurgy, power systems and pulp and paper.

Jean is fluent in French and English, and speaks mining fluently whether working across Canada, the US or Africa.

Jean’s passion for mining has always been front and centre; first as a volunteer with the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) for many years, and then serving as the CEO of CIM, as well as participation with many other mining associations.

When Jean isn’t building community with Tamarack’s members, he’s enjoying quality time with his family and growing his collection of Marvel collector's items.
